Heh. Good one, I want to say "Pride", but maybe "Anger/Wrath" is better.

Francis and PBob,

Thanks for visiting and commenting.

I would not consider you a whack-job Francis simply because you:

1) Managed to write a coherent comment without the use of religious phraseology.

2) Expressed a view that , while the church is important to you, you understand that there is a legitimate secular world out here.

3) Didn't try to shove your religion down my throat

In your example, yes I would. Why? Because you gave me no other choice. I know only 2 things about this President, he holds the office and he is religious. Given that I would also have to assume that he takes a leak in the morning because of his religion.

PBob, I would vote not FOR Hillary! but AGAINST Huck. I have looked at the Libertarian Party and even voted that way a number of times, but like it or not this is a 2 party system and the only vote to keep Huck out of office is to vote for the evil of 2 lessors.

I could see why you might not want to vote Huckabee, but then why vote for Clinton? Vote for one of the third party candidates, if they meet your standards, or if no candidate is acceptable, dont cast a vote for POTUS.

As far as the accuracy of the story-dont know. I can see some avenues of research that could lead to doubt, but dont have any desire to go there. Huckabee tho needs to clearly answer the accusations and put it to bed if he wants to move forward.

I'd be careful about that "religious whack-job" stuff. I'm a devout Catholic. The Church teaches that conscience, including the acceptance of religious dictates, is an individual matter. It also prescribes respect for legitimate law and legitimate secular authorities. So: Am I a whack-job? If so, how would I have to change to pass your test?

Now, imagine that a president were to issue a commutation or a pardon to someone you disapprove, or under circumstances you disapprove. Imagine further that he thereafter declined to discuss his reasons for it. You know him to be a religious man, and you know that his faith prescribes forgiveness for the repentant. Would you ascribe his decision to his "whack-jobbedness?" If so, why? If not, why not?
