Genius! Well played Microsoft!
Take a bad “OS” and pound it into the “market” using strong “marketing” tactics… Then release a “new” replacement for the tired old “OS” that is so repugnant that even the most trusting fans of the company are clamoring for the previous “OS” to continue to be supported.
People start waxing nostalgic over how “stable”, “friendly”, “compatible” and how overall wonderful your POS “OS” product was and how they will do just about anything to get it back…
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!11!one!!!eleventy!!
“BSOD” is a well known term for a reason!
Windows sucks, always has… always will…
(there … I said it!)

You’re starting to sound like one of those ex-smokers who cough and wheeze when someone on TV lights up. Sour grapes? Missing a real operating system?

Are you running Vista? Planning on running right out and getting Windows7?
I plan on getting Windows7 for my gaming system ASAP since I don’t have an XP license and Vista blows. Can Win7 be any worse? I don’t see how, but we are talking about Micro$oft.
Already converted Mrs. Sinner’s Vista laptop to Ubuntu. Smartest move evah.

I hate Vista. I only have it on my laptop. My next laptop will probably be an Apple so I can run XP. I bought extra copies of XP Pro so I can have it on my desktops, including any I build in the future. That is what I put on both my current desktops.

Buy that Apple, but run XP in a VirtualBox under OSX. Best of all worlds, you get OSX and Windows and when XP crashes (and you know it will…often) it is in a virtual computer so it can be rebooted nice and fast while you still have access to the data as well as OSX.

What flavor was that koolaid?
I run at least one of my desktops 24/7 and XP Pro has never crashed except when hardware failed. It has it’s frustrations but I have always been amazed at how good it is. That is why Vista ticks me off so badly.
