UGLY game last night, but it counts in the “W” column. 310 combined penalty yards, 7 combined turnovers, a massively blown kickoff coverage and a missed chipshot field goal… painful to watch. Lots of ink will be spilled over the number of PI calls, I think that is overblown considering the crazy standard of PI used by the officials in this game. Some of the calls were clear PI (I saw 2 major arm-bars), some were a little jostling and hand fighting, otherwise known as “football”. Props to the refs though, they were consistent in the calls. They called it straight, a wee bit overkill but straight and above all consistent. One of Aaron Rodgers’ picks was an effective punt, or it would have been if thrown on 3rd down (it was on 1st) so I would place less “ugly” on that. Joe Flacco’s late pick across his body in the endzone was one of the ugliest things I have ever seen in all my years of watching NFL games. December 1, 2009

For those of you that have tried to understand why I went from a complete Battlestar Galactica fanboi and writing/speaking of it often to someone that would catch the show if it were on in front of me but not worth the TiVo space, here is Jonah Goldberg: The extent of the show’s political and ideological corruption is best exemplified by the fact that one of the central pillars of the series had to be yanked: the notion that the Cylons had a grand, complex, conspiratorial plan involving their human doppelgängers that was unfolding inexorably over the course of the show’s run, one that humans needed to uncover in order to secure a victory in the war for the survival of their species. Indeed, every episode of the first three seasons began with an opening sequence in which the viewer is explicitly told that the Cylons “have a plan.” I think he has it right on the head there. The Cylons “had a plan”… we were finding out interesting bits of it… then the plan changed and the whole thing blew up. Of course the lame ending didn’t really help much, but I had already stopped watching it well before that. The question I asked myself was: Why did I TiVo the last 2 episodes? That was a total waste of electrons. September 29, 2009

2 comments… WTF! The Bears try a quicksnap on 4th down and its not quick enough. No penalty for 12 men, but even if there was a penalty, it would still have been 4th down. Someone needs to be fired for that. I’ve been looking for that 3rd and short playaction pass since before Holmgren was Head Coach, when it finally came I was shocked! Shades of Starr to McGee… Good times. September 10, 2009

A house built entirely out of LEGOs, I wonder how he came up with this idea… Mr May said: ‘The idea first came up over a beer, when we were talking about what we would have built as kids if we had enough Lego. Oh.. yeah… right… Should have known. August 25, 2009
